About Bob Manekin

Since returning to Baltimore from the Navy in 1977, Bob has played an active and ongoing role in the Baltimore Jewish community.  As a graduate of the Associated’s Young Men’s Leadership Council, which he chaired, he also served as President of the JCC (1989-1991), President of the Jewish Addiction Services, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Associated Jewish Federation and the Board of Directors of Associated Jewish Charities, Inc.  He served on Campaign Cabinet several years, heading the real estate division multiple times, as well on the executive committee of the National Young Leadership Council. Bob currently co-chairs the Associated’s Real Estate Committee and is heading the Task Force for redeveloping the Park Heights Campus. Bob is a recipient of the Harry Greenstein Leadership Award and the Carole Sibel Outstanding Fundraising Achievement Award for campaign work.

About the Bezalel Leadership Award
The “Bezalel” Award* (Hebrew for “In G-d’s shadow or protection”) was established in 2023 to honor an individual who has inspired and led the community through a process of dynamic transformation and collaborative change. As a biblical leader, Bezalel was an exemplary artisan and craftsman. He was appointed to design and construct the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant as Moses led the Israelites to the Promised Land.

Enjoy great music

This year’s entertainment is THE LORDS OF 52nd STREET — a world-class Billy Joel tribute band including three of his original band members — Richie Cannata on saxophone, Liberty DeVitto on drums, and Russell Javors on rhythm guitar — performing their legendary hits that helped establish the singer-songwriter’s formidable sound. Fans have declared that The Lords’ live performances sound just like the original recordings – if not better!
